Okay, I need some help and thought I would ask for advice. This might be a bit long.
I'm an adult female who has been working at the same job for 3.5 years. I am good at my job, got positive feedback and have been told that good things have been said about me. I also recently got a raise.
However, my old boss (who was lovely) left her job 2 years ago and she was replaced by a girl I know from school who is a total b**** and a bully. The first thing she did was cut my hours and she made all these ridiculous changes.
I put up with it and said nothing. Last year, I heard she was leaving and I was delighted. I applied for her job. Keep in mind I have a LOT of qualifications and a degree. It was given to another girl I know who has a lot less quals and experience.
I did not even get a chance at an interview - I was rejected immediately.
Today I found out that she and the old girl have now fired me. I asked why and was told that "we feel that other people need the opportunity to develop their skills now."
I feel that this is incredibly unfair. I have worked hard for years and this girl has not. She got the job based on her popularity.
I live in a small community and my job choices are limited, (which is why I work with so many people that I know). I also really need the money.
These two girls have been very cruel to me over the past few years. I am tired of seeing them get everything that they want. I am also tired of these unfair office politics. I keep getting rejected for interviews simply because I am not "well-known." While I do try to be nice to everyone, I get rejected over and over because of these inter-office politics.
I don't believe that being well-known should be a substitute for hard work. Every time I apply for something or volunteer for something - writing, activity days or whatever, I am always told that "we have other people to do that." However, I do not see much of anything getting done.
I want to find a spell that will help me get my old job back and also a spell to give me equal chances as these other people when I go for other jobs - I just want a fair go like everyone else.
