This question comes up constantly, to the point that it could be an emote of it's own. Bottom line...if you have not learned the basic skills necessary to cast, you shouldn't be worrying about spells anyway. One key basic skill to casting is correspondences. If you don't understand these, then you can't tell if a spell is garbage or not most of the time. Quit asking what works and what doesn't IF you have not invested the time to study, learn, and practice your "pre-casting" basic skills.
