I'd like to talk about the Eye of enlightenment.

I see it as the male spiritual principle or yang aspect of reality. The female prinicple of yang called Sophia or wisdom is an eye whose triangle points downward. It becomes Lucifer when it rests at the top of a pyramid, representative of a material heirarchy it needs to support it. The star of david with an eye in the center is the union of the two yang principles and rests at the top of the caduceus. This yin pole is represented by the bottom of the staff and the two serpents surrounding the world pillar. The wings of the caduceus are the arms of the yang principle when singular, as in "thine eye be single".
