Many people ask themselves this question is Vodou for me ? Well something I often say is that: "Vodou is like a road its open for everyone but that does not mean everyone can walk that road."

What I see and experience is that allot of people want to be in Haitian Vodou because they want to have power they want to have pretty altars they want to be "cool" they want to be feared.

Well if your mentality is like this Vodou is just not for you as Vodou doesnt come in a place of greed but a place of being selfless. selfishness has no place in Vodou. The community is put first because without the community there can be no ceremonies or possessions.

Vodou is not for everyone as not everyone is called to serve but everyone does have spirits with them but they dont call the person to serve them. What I also see is people try to serve the spirits because someone else is doing it. what I have to say about this is that Vodou is not a fashion statement that you can flaunt around to be cool this is a serious tradition that has to be respected and not to be used as a tool to gain followers or people.

Allot of times this is people who are new to Vodou they dont listen to Priests disrespect the spirits and the many lineages that there are in Vodou because they just want to look cool. This is a way to mess up your path in Vodou by disrespecting the Priests and the spirits.

Is Vodou for everyone ?

Yes and no some people are called to serve some are not called but many are treated in Vodou with baths and other things.

I know that when Vodou is done according to tradition you really receive the blessing of the spirits and this is what I want for those who are called to Vodou.
