I have never cast a spell before. I am timid even in doing card reading, although it is something I've been drawn to for as long as I can remember. I was raised Christian, with an acute focus on demonic activity. While I no longer identify with any religion currently, I am still concerned with having negative spiritual experiences. I have withheld this side of myself for a majority of my life. I am essentially a newborn infant right now, in terms of knowledge, or experience, or anything really.

I've read through the basics posts, and while they are wonderful sources of information and great starting points, I was curious if there were any "ground rules" so to speak for engaging in anything of this nature? Certain things to never do, or to not do without doing something else with it, or things that should not be attempted until experienced? What resources are there for understanding what risks what activities may pose?

This doesn't even have to be about spells, but anything related to witchcraft (If that's the correct term? I'm sorry if it isn't. Please correct me if needed.) that you feel deserves specific cautions? Or even just small pieces of advice you wish you had known when you got started?

Thanks for reading this. I hope it isn't redundant, or annoying. If another thread has been posted about this I apologize, and please do direct me to its home. Have a good day.
