I keep reading comments from various folk who claim it is not possible to change your DNA.

This is inaccurate.

Adaption is a genetic change and can and does happen in your own lifetime.

Whereas the idea of turning oneself into some fictional and fanciful creature can be dismissed, I do not believe there is a proper basis for a blanket YOU CANNOT CHANGE YOUR DNA.
