Since it is winter i thought id tell you about my favorite legend :D

Jack Frost or Old Man Winter is the personification of winter, ice, frost and snow in mythologyand folklore. Often he is wrote about or depicted as a mischevious little sprite making trouble with his powers of frost.

He is said to change the gold, reds and crisp orange leaves of autumn to bleak frost bitten browns. Leaving frost on the windows and grass, causing snowball fights and rides in on the first snowflake of winter.

Legend says decpite his mischevious nature he is a very care free and loving sprite and is never thought of as a being of malice.

This is a poem by C. Pike named Jack Frost.

Look out! Look out!
Jack Frost is about!|
Hes after our fingers and toes;
And all through the night,
The gay little sprite
Is working where nobody knows.

Hell climb each tree,
So nimble is he,
His silvery powder hell shake.
To windows hell creep
And while were asleep
Such wonderful pictures hell make.

Across the grass
Hell merrily pass,
And change all its greenness to white.
Then home he will go
And laugh ho, ho ho!
What fun I have had in the night.

And now a quote from Micha F. Lindemans

"Jack Frost is a figure from folklore, an elfish creature who personifies crisp, cold weather. He is said to leave those beautiful patterns on autumn leaves and windows on frosty mornings. It is thought that he originated in Norse folklore as Jokul ("icicle") or Frosti ("frost"). In Russia, frost is represented as Father Frost, a smith who binds water and earth together with heavy chains. In Germany however, it is an old women who causes it to snow by shaking out her bed of white feathers."
