Over the years, before I started practicing myself. I learnt from my grandparents, uncle and older brother. They told me, that those who practise magic do so in circles, these were witches (which they described as a unisex term) but I have never formed the circle. I have always used magic alone, I have never had to draw on elements to get results. I started to learn that I had my own power before I used magic, and I have always relied on that. But my friend who like me comes from a spiritualist background, can drain the energy from living things, never enough to do harm but enough that upon his attempt to demonstrate this to me I could feel the effect. He has asked me this, and I have told him that the ability is somewhat vampiric (although his body did not absorb this energy) but now I wonder, what is the technical term for him, and what is the term for one on my path.
