While for many here in the west the I-Ching itself is mostly worked with for means of divination. This oracle is not merely just a means for one to gain insight into the unknown that everyone seeks answers to. It is also an ancient system of philosophy and cosmology at its center. Among the many forms of divination that are more common place here among us such as tarot,astrology,runes,lithomancy,numerology,scrying and so on. While the I Ching is a form of bibliomancy the divination system of the I Ching is closely akind to the western practice of Geomancy(a method of divination that interprets markings on the ground or the patterns formed by tossed handfuls of soil, rocks, or sand) and the West African Ifa system.
