Many people know of this horrid looking plant. In the winter it produces burrs that irritate your skin if they scratch it, and they get stuck on everything. It has a wide variety of uses though.

In magic, it can be used for protection. This can be achieved by mixing it into a blend for home made incense, or scattering the dried herb about your home. It can be added to any protection spell in a similar fashion.

Medicinally this is a fantastic plant. The juices are known for their astringent properties. If you squeeze out the juices from the herb onto a spider bite, bee sting, boil etc., it will draw the fluid out (adding a pinch of salt can strengthen this effect).

When pureed and strained, this herb can help with severe acne. It is a bit drying, so I would suggest following up with aloe or vitamin E oil to keep from worsening the condition. Burdock is also very high in vitamins and is said to help aid in metabolism. It is fairly safe to eat, but excess amounts can lead to diarrhea and dehydration so be careful. Always ask a professional before using herbal supplements internally.

Magical uses information from "Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs". Medicinal uses from my own and my mums experiences.
