Does this work?

All four of the herbs involved have at least some association with protection or cleansing. Particularly the sage and thyme. Though, nowadays Sage is being over-farmed pretty harshly so I might suggest substituting the sage for cedar or sweet grass if those are also accessible to you.

As for the chant, I'm a minimalist myself so I would likely simplify it to an affirmation or direct statement of what I want to achieve. Something along the lines of ''Only light and love may dwell within my home. Let no harm exist within these four walls.''

I would add that such herbs are usually meant to be burned as incense, so an appropriate fire-safe burner would be handy. For loose herbs a coal-incense burner would be best. Light the coal and get it going, then take it to a room. Sprinkle a small pinch of each herb onto it and let the smoke do its thing while saying your chant. Then do the same for the next room , and the next, until each has been individually cleansed/blessed. ...It also helps to start with your windows opened a crack so the smoke has somewhere to escape and 'carry away' any negativity. Close the windows as each room is completed to shut the figurative door behind whatever energies may have been sent away.

This is incomplete. Are you using dried herbs and are you then sprinkling the mixture around your property? I would not recommend keeping powdered garlic around your house unless you want it to smell like garlic. White sage is also problematic. While it does have cleansing properties, it is a sacred plant to Native Americans, a closed practice, and endangered. You could use other varieties of sage. The chant needs a bit of work. If you do not work with a deity, you do not need to call on one. If you wish to use garlic, there is a folk Magik trick, braided garlic. Garlic is protective, and braiding the strands together traps negative energy. This is why you see many people with braided garlic hanging in their kitchens. Overall, I see this working more for a cleansing, but the method is incomplete as it does not explain what to do with the mix.
