After we die, do we get to choose to be born in which family. Can we fulfil our unfulfilled past life purposes?

I don't think you will find much of an answer to your question, after all, only the dead can truly know what happens after we die, and we are all living on this website.

Plus it very much depend on which afterlife concept you believe in, some people don't believe in riencarnation or the potential to correct past mistakes while others might.

no one actually knows, it's just what we feel.

one theory i heard was about instant reincarnation. people who claim there's a light at the end of a tunnel is actually the birth canal. i like that idea, but at the same time i believe in spirits so i don't think it's that instant [but if it is i'm fine with that too] i believe we die and go to summerland [or something like that] where our soul can rest and reflect on its previous lifetime. sometimes we die suddenly, or our spirit doesn't want to let go of the physical and it lingers [hence spirits/ghosts] but once we are ready to be reborn, we are. we don't really choose as what, it's just another experience out souls have and we learn from.

Yes you choose. It depends on what way you mean that.

There are many varying beliefs.

There is no factual answer. Any insistence that something absolutely happens is merely belief, and cannot be proven or disproven.

This makes a lot of sense to me and I feel that might be what happens, but who knows!
