I agree, the only way to find out is to look. At least it seems to be a positive item given the sense of being protected by a blessing. And if she specifically handed the journal to you then it is safe to assume she wanted you to have it so you could make some use of the contents.
if you are concerned about violating the blessing somehow, just be sure you approach the book with a positive mindset, and perhaps speak to the book as if you were speaking to your grandmother. Thanking her for giving you the book and stating that you would like to read from it and why. Whether it is to honor her memory, to remember her and the things she showed you, or to learn about her thoughts and experiences... whatever the reason may be speak it aloud. Then place the book in your lap, your hand on the cover, and see what happens.
Turns out it is a book of shadows, not sure if it's her main book of shadows or if she had others. There are a lot of really interesting spells and all different kinds of journal entires on results of spells, things that were added which improved them. It's all just really amazing!
For clarification I was referring to the blessing on the book as I didn't want to ruin it or any kind of protection spells that may be on the book. I've looked through the book but I wasn't sure if that would ruin any kind of spells placed on the book, I know my now deceased grandmother have it to me so I can only assume she did something to the protection spells casted to protect the book so I wouldn't affect it in any negative way, it that makes sense. Thank you for all of your suggestions. Happy eclipse day!
sounds at first glance a book of shadows. it holds the person's energy within. unlocked by their own blood(children, grand children, etc.)
it also seems as though it has powerful magick and words set within the pages. you may need balancing and practice inorder to open it.
she willed this book to someone. if it is in your hands, it may be for you now. hold your hands over the book. look around and call her name. ask her for permission to open it. what is willed can not be lost. come with no ill intentions.
