Of all the variants of the runic alphabet, the most ancient, German variant, the "Oldest Futhark", named for the first six letters F, U, Th, A, R and K, is most widely used. It consists of 24 characters and is divided into three groups (three ettirs) of Eight runes: runes of Freya, Hagallah and Tire. Each rune has its own values: alphabetic, predictive and magical.
According to the northern tradition, the knowledge of the runes was obtained by the god Odin, who sacrificed himself for this knowledge. The legends say that One pierced himself with a sacred spear and spent nine days and nights "pinned" by him to Yggdrasil - the Tree of the World.

first off, its elder futhark. not oldest. second, its Tyr. not tire. third, i dont like the idea of a rune app. there are things that need to be done in rune creation that cant be done electronically. and lastly, a complete description of each rune would take pages to write. most descriptions are, at best, incomplete summations.
