Hello everyone.
My name is Jayne, I am 29 and live in Canada with my significant other Adam.
I was raised by a protestant mother and grew up with a French Catholic extended family.
I went to a United Church until age 9 mainly because that's what I thought was suppose to happen. I remember questioning everything at church.
When my mother got very sick she was no longer able to take me to church; Friends and neighbours offered to take me but I told my mom that I didn't belong and she respected that.
All through middle school and high school I casually learned about other religions from classmates and books and while I identified with bits and pieces in the end I decided that agnostic was the best 'fit' for me.
In high school some of my favourite movies were The Craft, Practical Magic, Hocus Pocus, and almost any witchy/magic movie. (And Sabrina, Buffy, & Charmed on TV) I definitely identified with Wicca but didn't follow the path.
After high school I learned more about Paganism from people I met through theatre but I didn't connect with/choose to follow any deities.
If the topic if religion came up I just called myself agnostic and left it at that.
Fast-forward 10 years and now that my partner and I are (more seriously) discussing kids and how to raise them I am more actively practicing witchcraft and exploring my Pagan path.
Adam was also raised Christian and while he still identifies as Christian, he has in the last few years been very open about Paganism and has connected with crystal work.
We have been involved with a wonderful organization for about 3 years that is very Christian based, and while there is no pressure to belief what they do, I want to be able to fully stand behind my beliefs when it comes up in conversation.
I look forward to exploring my path deeper after a few years of learning.
