Channel Energy from Past?

I've heard of things like psychic residue, time echos, etc...phenomena tied to things like the Clairtangency or the ability to perceive past events via energy left on an object and/or location. It is widely believed, and I concur, that time travel is impossible yet still an unusual idea popped into my head. Energy is neither created nor destroyed so theoretically instead of channeling energy from an outside source as many do for spell casting could someone channel energy from themselves not in the present but instead themselves in the past? If you spent enough time in a given area you might theoretically leave a small imprint of your own energy that could be harnessed for spell casting and as far as I am aware there aren't any realistic theories involving energy being able to go beyond our current concept of time so this seems improbable...which is an understatement of major proportions. Still, the concept of tapping into ones own energy from a different, possibly multiple, points in time is an interesting, outlandish idea that popped into my mind. Any theories? I know I've seen a few rare comments online where some believe time travel is possible in astral form, but only from the point of being an observer without any ability to alter the course of history so I'm curious if anyone has a viewpoint I have considered beyond the obvious lol.

I could certainly see how that might be possible, although much like astral projection time traveling, I doubt you'd be able to interact with anything. Personally, I believe most "ghosts" are actually fragments of memories associated with powerful emotions and anchored to a location or object, like thoughtforms created on accident and left behind by their creators.

Elidark, I may be recalling fiction yet I want to think I recalled a similar phenomenon to the way you described your belief on ghosts mentioned once. I think they called it an echo or time loop where in they believed some spiritual phenomena were moments from the past repeating themselves like a recording so you weren't actually viewing a ghostly presence/encounter but rather a fragment of the past. This concept supposedly didn't discount ghosts but was considered a secondary phenomena. I'm not certain about ghosts myself never having seen one, but some of the less interactive accounts could easily fit your description. As for those ghosts people have interacted with...well that depends on the source's credibility also the idea it could have been another form of spirit masquerading as a deceased human is something you can't be certain of.

Absolutely right, Kitsune. I came up with that theory when I was about sixteen, but since then I've read the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, and Afterworlds, by Scott Westerfield, and both of those authors use an idea similar to mine.
