Why do posts get locked?

I really don't mean to come off as vulgar if this is the case.
Or is it when they become too long?
I try to be honest in all of my posts, and if in one of the posts I relay that someone swore at me in private message, or said something vulgar and quote them, it makes me feel kind of neglected in my words when that post is immediately locked.

I just have a hard time not relaying the experience honestly.

I really try to give good advice, and I swear I'm not uneducated or vulgar.

It's literally a social thing, and I'm not sure why I'm so socially inept at times.

Because every time I see that a post that ended in my reply is locked, I find my self disheartened and wondering what I did this time?

Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I really just don't know, and I don't mean to offend anyone.

A post is locked for multiple reasons (which may differ from this, I do not believe that I understand and know all of the reasons):

- Swearing, and vular words usually mean a thread is locked and deleted.
- If the point has been answered by multiple members it is no longer necessary for more posts to be made, so it is locked.
- If a post is on a nonsense topic, where the poster is roleplayng or being overly naieve, the post will be locked.

I doubt it is you that is causing the locked threads, once the forum has lead its course, it is locked. I don't claim to be someone who knows exactly why posts are locked, but these seem to be some of the common reasons.

Okay, I just worry sometimes.
I tend to be a lot more sensitive than most, which is why I usually try to stray away from social media altogether.

I like this website because there are a lot of interesting people with interesting backgrounds, and I'm learning a lot from them. I'm just not always the most versed in social Que's, so it can be hard to decipher sometimes.

I probably shouldn't quote another persons actions then, even if they are honest quotes.

Some can be kind of colorful in their vocabulary.

well going through your site history, only one forum you commented on [multiple times i might add] was locked, so you shouldn't feel too bad. as Rikki mentioned, there's multiple ways a forum can be locked. that particular one probably ran it's course in some mods opinion and he or she locked it. it happens. i was quite enjoying the forum thread myself, but it was most likely locked not because of you, but how most members [myself included] were complaining and badmouthing instead of discussing solutions, that's probably why it was locked.

Oh! That makes sense.
I'll try to incorporate more solutions in my responses then.
I always thought the forums could be like a public chat, but with a theme...
...Or something like that.
I feel kind of silly now, getting my feelings hurt over locked posts.

Thanks, these were all really informative answers. :)

don't worry about it. they can be seen as a public chat, but they have different uses, there are those who ask questions, but others which are comments, they usually get locked because they serve no purpose in the end. you can always go to the chat, there's a lot of random topics in there. one time i saw people discussing the latest episode of Criminal Minds [this is going back a ways, i don't typically go on chat]

don't feel silly, you don't ask, you'll never learn. but don't take things too personally, i've done that for years and it doesn't end well. many witches choose to be empathic because they wish to help and make others feel better, the problem is so many play the martyr and never release the negativity and get drained. don't allow so much energy to be ruled by doubt.

Being born that way, I never knew I was until about age 18ish.
I'm 19 and sifting through my own childhood problems, deciphering which ones were mine, and which were my siblings nnd parents... And friends, and classmates and teachers.

Yeah...

I'm getting a lot better in some areas, but there are still some sensitive points.

Not to mention I work at a call center, and the TV's are always blaring loudly in the break rooms...

I read the history of the original post and it was possibly locked due to the fact of vulgar behavior and it ran out its course
