Combat magick

Hey, everyone! I have a book called The Pathwalker's Guide to the Nine Worlds by Raven Kaldera. In this book, one of the shamans Raven interviewed goes over basic shielding. The person goes on to mention combat shields. I have no clue what combat magick is, nor do I know what exactly a combat shield is. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks!

Well, I would assume it would be mostly about energetic ideas of shielding and protecting yourself from subtle things.
