Same thing goes for other animals, but callers (such a wolves) are the best.
One form of developing your connectivity to nature is to actually practice connecting to it.
Go out at night. Most people will be asleep, and they can't bother you and won't intrude energetically as much.
Go when you know there are callers out. Crickets, frogs, wolves, coyotes, etc.
Sit. Meditate. Relax.
Cleanse your body.
Open your energy centres.
Widen your scope of connectivity.
Search for you callers with your own energy.
Feel them as they call.
Slowly begin to touch their energy with your own.
Meld it together.
Breathe in their energies, and breathe out your own.
Sense the energy they send when they speak.
Speak back with your own energy.
Say thanks when you are ready to leave.
That is just the basics. I use other steps, but these are more general.
