Really intent is what is most important. You have to decide what path you are wanting to follow.
But you have to learn the basics to start. There have been many posts on books and articles to start with. I know it is hard to just hear read some books. As a solitary practitioner it seems very hard and overwhelming. But studying and using the resources here help you learn and focus. Then you will know. You will see and feel what magick is about.
Magic does not need to be defined by colours. But our intentions decide he type of magic. If the magic used for good cause is what you call white magic then it doesn't need a suggestion. Every time you help a needy person, every time you make a good wish for your enemy, every time you defend the oppressed from the oppressor, you have performed white magic. Magic isn't moving a wand and performing miracles. It is the preservation of humanity inside our physical body.

Well 'white magick' is basically being good and not harming people, so I suggest you study magick, define what you feel is harmful, or what's right and wrong, and live your life that way. What most consider 'white magick' would be love, luck, wealth, job, beauty, cleansing, protection and healing among others, but each should looked at and you should think about it before deciding what you will cast.
I find the search bar on this board to be an excellent source of information,id advise you to run a search on all of your questions
I promise you hours of excellent reading,I have been studying and practicing Magick and the occult for years and Still find Tons of fresh threads on here....
I believe we are able to use magick because the Gods allow us to. Certain Gods will allow us to use the magick they give us. If you follow thr darker arts the Gods of good will not let you use such magick.

@ EviAnne, it's not so much he 'cannot' cast these spells when he chooses to be a 'white witch' [or whatever one would call it] it's more he 'should not' cast other spells. It's like converting to Judaism and choosing not to eat pork or shellfish. It's not that you can't eat them, it's just the religion you follow says you shouldn't and you choose not to. Magick can be the same way. As I mentioned in my first post, if you make a code of right and wrong that you feel is true to you, you should stick to it, otherwise it's pointless. If you believe curses are wrong under an circumstance, you shouldn't curse someone because they upset you, so 'Just this once I'll curse this person because they asked for it'. White and black are only colours, it is up to the caster to choose what is acceptable behaviour and cast what they feel is right. We can falter [it ere is human after all] but to constantly flip flop kind of undermines your work and makes it worthless.
