Evocation VS divination
By:
I was wondering the difference between divination and evocation. I can't understand the difference at all, so please someone help me.

Is it divination necessary for evocation, I mean, I can't achieve evocation without divination?? If it is like that, can I leave divination, open my 3rd eye and start practising divination?

Evocation is the act of invoking or summoning.

Divination is a practice used to seek unknown information.

Evocation is calling forth an intelligence, essence, spirit or being.

Divination is using tarot, scrying, casting of lots, or other methods to reveal information that would be otherwise unknown. It relies on your skill and intuition.

I think it would be worth noting that evocation is not a form of invocation, but is similar. Evocation is calling a being or energy to you, but leaves it outside yourself, where invocation is bring said being or energy into the self.

I would like to add that many recommend you perform divination before evoking an entity to learn about what to expect and how you should prepare for it. Not everything that can be evoked should be.

Evocation is calling upon a spirit or source outside of yourself in order to obtain something. It is typically opposed by invocation which is calling that spirit or source or an aspect of it within yourself.

Both can be used within divination, which is anritual means of getting information, but is not necessarily part of it or related
