candle question

If I do a spell with a medium size pillar candle do I have to burn it down all the way? When I do chime candles its easy cause they're smaller. If its for prosperity should I bury it? It seems like its too big to bury if it doesn't burn down all the way thru. and it would be easier to throw in the river, but at the same time I heard if its something you want to bring to you it has to be buried on your property.

why not burn the candle in stages? burn while casting, than once a day as you have time to direct more energy into the working?

If it is a very large candle, you could just anoint the top portion, that you know you can burn down and than cut off the burnt part and bury that.
