The God and Goddess candles do not have to be any particular color or shape. Many just use white candles to represent the Deities. Others may choose to have one color for the Goddess and one for the God. None of these are necessary unless you are practicing Wicca in which case it is part of the religion of Wicca - but it has nothing to do with spellwork in general.

Any candles will work. The important part is what you assign each candle to be for. While lighting the goddess candle, be in mind that it is the goddess candle for your working. Same with the god candle. Shape and color don't really matter, other than what it means to you. As Lark said, if you are doing Wicca ritual, then use silver and gold. Otherwise, white works fine. Hope this helps. Blessed be.

You misunderstood me, Star. Just because one is Wiccan it does not mean that you must use a silver and gold candle. Wiccans often just use white candles. I've even used a black, a red, and a white candle to represent the three forms of the Goddess. And I've seen many other colors used as well. If you aren't part of a Wiccan Tradition which specifies what color to use you can use anything you have at hand.
