Is magic like the origina

I know its not real I'm just saying can some of the spell styles on there be like real life with a few changes

Despite what everyone keeps saying, some of the practices do exist, but they are not the same and are not as "special effects", cursing, hexing, etc are real, as are the coven system but the elemental control, weather magic and others are certainly not.

Despite the special effects the magical basis is not as bad as most shows, but don't take anything done on the show as anywhere near reality.

Leave entertainment to entertain you. Trying to learn from it is not a good idea. It is created for entertainment, why question if it's real, or like real?

That is the problem,Star! The writers of these fantasies do put in little bits of the actual Craft, and bits of Occult beliefs.That makes it seem real to youngsters. The worst thing about "The Originals" is that it is about a family of Vampires! Add that show to The Vampire Diaries; Charmed, Twilight, Buffy The Vampire Slayer; and it is no wonder we get all these kids asking about vampires on this site!

As you said the very magickal side of the originals like shape shifting and throwing fire doesn't exist as far as I know though I wish it did haha but scrying, curses, hexes etc do exist and are practiced by a large variety of individuals all over the globe, though not quite the same as on the originals but some magick shown in the show can be related to magick which is practiced by individuals. Thanks silk and to the others I wasn't trying to learn from the show I know its a entertainment show but I was asking a simple question which only to people have answers as I'd say correctly so far if you read the first form post I said I know the vans arnt real and all that other fluf but it some of the magic in there like real life and now I knnow the answer as only to people have properly answered it and the others are throwing at me that I'm trying to learn from the show and other things

It's good to know you were just wondering about spells and if the magic is real, where as...many assume that all shows like that are real because its on the ''TV'' and it has the actors and, some occult things.
Like Bryson said, it's entertainment. But of course, our media has to throw in some popular pagan beliefs as well which is another point Bryson made. The people believe that's what ''magic'' is about. Sadly, they belief their dreams will come true! This isn't the case, and it's shows like this that cause these ''fluff'' beliefs.

I've never watched the show, but i heard it's a lot like Buffy the vampire slayer, Every witch way, or charmed. Heck even Sabrina the teenage witch is in here! All these shows have one thing in common. Fantasy beliefs! Combined with some pagan or occult things such as covens, spells, wands, ect...this makes it seem real. I'm guessing if its anything like the following shows above...don't take it to heart and learn that it's fantasy. It'd be good for you to also read some basics, or what magic is and isn't.
