No! But a butterfly might be mistaken for a fairy! And just about any other flying insect.

I'm not sure about Fae, but butterflies can be considered signs of spirits in some cultures. The Aztecs believed that the Monarch Butterfly was the spirit of a dead warrior, for instance.

I think you are under the impression that faeries are physical beings and that they fall under the caetgorisation of the characteristic portrayed by the media.

If this is the case, both those assumptions are incorrect.
