Brown candle substitute

I know people have said that a white candle can be substituted for any other color in spell casting. However, is it possible the spell may not work, or not be as helpful if the candle is not brown as the spell calls for?

The reason I am asking is because I am having a difficult time finding brown chime candles. There must be a shortage.

A white surface refracts all wavelengths, so with a white candle you have all the colors you need.

I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't affect the spell before I did it.

You don't really need a candle to do spells, it just helps you focus on the spell. They aren't a requirement, but they can help

Personally I find that if in doubt a white candle can work for anything, if you're too worried you can annoint the candle with an oil that correspond with your spell, carve a related symbol into the base or side of the candle and then charge it with your intention. It is a sure fire way to ensure your white candle will do the job.

Despite candles not being necessary, I use candle magick a great deal and believe that the corresponding colours mean something when doing a spell, this method here's me ensure white candles are enough.

Jay and H2O are right, candles and other stuff are only for help, unless they are the central part of the spell or ritual, like in Candle Magic.

This particular spell is for a legal issue, and was a candle spell, that's why I asked.

I like the ideas you guys put forth, thank you!

As mentioned in the previous posts, you can use a white candle as a substitute for any color because white is the essence of every color in the rainbow. It shouldn't effect the spell you are trying to cast. What you can do is when using the candle, visualize it changing into the color you desire, or even glowing the color you wish to use. I have never had a spell fail me when I used a white candle to replace another. Sometimes i'll even use a anointing oil appropriate for the spell and color it to the color i'm substituting if I know I am using it on white candle. Also..you could use birthday candles if you can't find colors you need, seems silly yes but comes in handy lol.
