Meditation help

I am new to Wicca. I want to explore meditation but I'm not sure how to go about it. I have attempted it the last 2 nights but my mind wanders and then I have terrible dreams afterwards. I have to be doing something completely wrong. I read a few articles but I would love to know how some of you go about it. From everything I read, it is just a beautiful experience. I want that.

Meditation is a beautiful experience. It calms the mind, and puts it in a deep sense of peace. If your mind wanders, play some soothing music. Piano, orchestra, violin music, whatever calms your mind. While doing so, focus on your breath. Try to calm it. Is it heavy? Can you barely hear yourself breathing? Ask such questions while you're focusing.

Most of the time thinking itself it meditation for me. My wandering off in thought can produce a wonderful experience. Sometimes, then, my thoughts just stop, and I think of nothing. My mind is purely relaxed then.

Meditation can go wherever you want to go. If you're stressed at work, take the time to calm down, and again, focus on your breathing. Having nervous thoughts? Do the same thing. It can take up hours if you want it to, or just a few minutes if you need it.

Hope this helped.

don't over think it, the key is to relax. no one can turn their mind off and sit quietly for hours their first time. start slow and move on. find a comfortable quiet area, close your eyes, and take ten slow deep breathes. if you have time, do ten more, and slowly work your way to fifty. over time you will work your way up to a minute, then five, and so on.

also there are various forms of meditation, so find the one thats best for you. remember, just relax, you don't have to clear your mind, let the thoughts flow, don't dwell, so long as you feel relaxed, you're doing fine.

Michelle I have several links on meditation on my profile. Feel free to help yourself to them. It may be difficult to do at first, but with practice it becomes much easier. Just keep going. :)
