A simple tea can be a potion. So many herbs to use that can help us feel better. Then there are the ones for the outer body. Adding herbs or essential oils to a carrier oil (olive oil, for example) can do wonders for whatever ails you. For example, chamomile tea helps relax, so as to aid in falling asleep, or just calming the day. Lavender flowers in a pouch, or a few drops of the oil can help you sllep, and even prevent nightmares. Eucalyptus oil added to carrier oil can help the pain of joints and muscles when rubbed on.
So see? Potions are what you make, and what you do with them to help you, and others. Good luck, and good brewing!

Potions are any wet/moist form of magic. The ink used to write magical workings can be seen as a potion. The ritual bath one creates has a potion aspect when one steeps herbs in the hot bath or adds other items to the water. A vapor treatment is a potion, one that is created to heal or at least help relieve symptoms. Ointments, salves, soaps, and poultices, are seen as potions to a kitchen witch. Wet foods can also be potions if one is cooking with their energy. Teas, soups, dressings, pickled foods, sauces, syrups, etc. Cleansing/cleaning fluids such as a floor wash are also potions. I like to make my own using essential oils. Place a gallon of hot water in a bucket (cauldron) and add several drops of Rosemary, Basil, and Thyme essential oils. Then sprinkle fine Sea or Himalayan salt into the water (about 5-6 piches). Mix well with your mop (staff). The Thyme and salt work well together at disinfecting most surfaces.

Does anybody know that red potion that appears in all games? It is based on a true recipe, hypericum (St. Johns Wort) oil, which is bright red. It's my favorite potion, by itself serves to heal wounds and burns, I use it as a base for disinfecting and healing ointments. I love it.

Be careful with blue lily, it can cause damage to the nerve centers of the brain and its lethal dose is relatively low.

To the post two messages above me, I would highly advise against telling people who are learning to use any ingredient that is in any way poisonous if it is to be consumed or that will come in contact with the skin. Should someone not use the proper dosage or have an adverse reaction, it will be, in part, your fault for not making sure that they know the proper dosage and/or how to handle said dangerous/potentially dangerous ingredient.

To the original poster, always do research into what you are using not only for magical properties but into what effects it has on you medicinally. Most reference materials will list whether or not a certain ingredient is poisonous or hazardous, but when asking advice on a forum, the poster may not do so.
