Invocations come in many forms, and in my opinion varying degrees. I would class invocation as calling a force, or deity, into yourself at some level.

On the lower end an invocation could involve assuming a God form, calling in force of planetary energies etc, and on the more advanced end invocation could imply shadowing a deity, possession/horsing practices.

Divine force is called into your sphere of sensation and various levels of your being is the general definition I would give.
