locked out of a thread?

Can a user be locked out of a thread?

Every once in a while I'll comment in a thread and then see that it has become locked... But I still see people posting in it.

I don't believe so, I think it may be editors or mods. They can control those things. I'm not really sure, so don't take my word for it, but if I'm wrong I'm wrong.

I was recently able, I think, to post on a thread that had been locked before my comment went through, only because I already had the reply window open and was typing in it, and just took a long while to hit the Submit button and didn't know that the thread had already been locked.

Once I thread is locked, every member is locked from it. Moderators and site admins have the ability to lock and unlock threads at will. Threads become locked for multiple reasons. They can be locked for arguing, inappropriate content, fluff related topics, and so much more. Rather a thread is locked or not is up to the moderators and beyond.

It happened to me once, its all timing. I clicked on the 'add comment' and it was locked while I was writing a response. Which is kind of odd because if I try commenting and someone moves it to a different section my comment isn't added. Maybe its a semi-glitch.

Most times a thread is locked because it has "run its course". Posts on the thread are being repeated too much; with no advancement about the subject.
