Well spirit messengers in the physical world, owls that drop a feather tend to tell my family when close relatives have died. If they drop three feathers it is a warning of impending death. It is an old superstition but has been quite accurate in my family. Which is odd because almost every single family member is devout christian.

Of course I should point out that it may likely be coincidence as relatives in my large family have been dropping like flies on a regular basis since the late 80s. Not many of us left. Thus use of the word ' supersticious '

In Greek and roman mythology an owl is a symbol of Athena/Minerva in both forms.

An owl is a symbol of change, or a warning. It also may be that you may witness or fear of seeing something.

I love owls! I work with them as far as rehabbing injured owls and releasing back into the wild. I also love their symbolism! Owls come in my dreams when they are trying to tell me something. They bring to light things that are unseen, they are night guardians as well.....also sending a message or bringing you the energy to delve into your intuition and explore the unknown. Owls symbolize intuition, ability to see what others do not see, change, seeing beyond deceit and masks, wisdom. The traditional meaning of the owl is the announcer of death, most likely symbolic like a life transition, change.
