Thanks for the post.

It's nice to get something other than hate, when we volunteer a lot of our time here for the betterment of the site. We're people too! :)

Ugh. All of the self-righteous authoritarianism and brown-nosing is disgusting.

Here's a tip: The reason that the rule-breaking is so common is because the rules are difficult to find, and there are unusual rules. After looking around for a while, I eventually found the rules under 'articles', in the article 'Chatter Rules', at: http://www.spellsofmagic.com/coven_ritual.html&ritual=1945&coven=1 . If you want there to be less rule-breaking, then post the rules in a more visible place, like as a sticky message in the 'Welcome' subforum.

Lydia, the rule are not odd, there rules. All rules will be odd to someone since many people don't follow them. I also know that the rules on in the chatter if you click info, but I do agree, some people don't want to read so they totally should put them more onto the home page.

Lydia and anyone else who cant find the rules...perhaps you might recall the chatter test that every member is required to take prior to entering the chatter the very first time. The reason this is required is that we want to ensure that every member has read the rules prior to their very first chatting experience on the site. If you need a refresher then simply click INFO beside the LIVE CHAT feature to the right.

I think the best way to avoid gagging is not to use public chat at all.

There are two sets of rules. In the full screen chatter, there is a tab that reads Chatter Rules and at the bottom of every page you visit on the website is a section called . Terms of Use . Beyond that, moderators are tasked with keeping things running smoothly, as was stated before, so there is the variable of their discretion to take into account.

In short, the best way to not get gagged is to familiarize yourself with the rules and not do anything you think might be wrong. If you have a question, directly as a moderator.

One also agrees to the Terms of Use when making an account, and must agree to the chatter rules before entering.

That being the case, we generally assume you've read them at some point - what with having agreed to them.

The authoritarian guile that is us. :(
