People have changed the ritual to either suit their tradition or their personal taste, if white works and fits in for them, then great. Magick is an art form and individual expression is allowed.

I am a sucker for tradition and know the Golden Dawn, who compiled this ritual, did use a violet flame in the LBRP.

But each to their own.
