my mom likes her more than i do, she's entertaining [mostly for the way she acts and talks] regarding her 'gift' i feel she does have the ability to speak with spirits. she seems to know what she's doing anyway. yes, she is helping people heal, but i'm sure a lot of what you see on tv is there for the sake of drama. of all the claimed mediums i've seen on tv she seems to be real thing. granted i wouldn't go out and buy her books or tickets to her show, but i would watch her over any other medium. [not sure if the other countries get this show but in Canada we have 'moms a medium' omg she's not only fake but aggravatingly annoying.]

I love Long Island Medium, i don't think shes fake at all or a fraud. For people to believe that are ignorant. But i know when you do stuff on tv it can take little more drama then you need. I think her abilities are interesting and great. And she does at least know what she is doing. There where some great and heart warming episodes.

I'm not a fan of reality tv. It's too easy to fake.

I'm not saying the woman herself is fake, however, she does seem to be using an old parlour trick called "cold reading." on top of my normal practices as a Witch, I do study "Magician" magic, which is nothing but illusions, sleight of hand, and the like. Cold Reading comes from that aspect of entertainment, and has nothing to do with actual psychic phenomenon.

I'd have to meet her in person, OFF CAMERA, to determine if she's a cold reader, or an actual psychic. Until then, I'll probably never be a fan.

because of where i am in my own path it took me three seasons to believe that in fact, in my opinion she could not possibly fake what she does. i am surprised this thread has not been deleted because of the fact that she is an online person as well. she is for sure on facebook and this has got to be the most popular site on the internet to come and learn magick.

What are my thoughts? Long Island iced tea...

Yeah, that's about it. I've never seen the show, but I'm automatically weary of tv psychics (and ghost hunting shows).

Personally, I think it's bubkas. Almost any true psychic that I know, wouldn't exploit their gift like that. They might help people, but not for twenty grand an episode. It's kind of upsetting.

Her live shows are a lot less convincing than her recorded ones. I recall seeing her in an audience, saying "someone here had a family member who died", and then she looked around the room. She pointed at someone and he said no, noone died recently. But then a girl in tears somewhere else in the audience said that she had a recently departed family member. Keep in mind this was a fairly large audience and chances are several of them attended knowing that she might contact the dead for them to bring messages of dearly departed- there are only so many reasons to visit a medium. What she was looking for was so broad and she didn't even get it right the first time, so I became pretty unimpressed with her as far as "is it real or fake" goes. I'm pretty sure that its mostly a dramatic reality tv show and that is fine for what it is.

That's a part of Cold Reading, as I mentioned earlier.

And not even well done, as far as I can tell.

Totally fake, like John Edwards and Sylvia Brown
And the rest of them! What they dont show You is the edited cuts of the show, all of what they got wrong
What they dont mention is that every audience member is asked to sign a gag order before being allowd to sit and watch
And many other aspect's. The research is all to be found in google and evemn youtube im sure has videos debunking these fakes
