How to tell my mom

How do I tell my mom I like witchcraft. I've been practicing for a long period of time and I really want to tell my mom, it feels wrong not to. So how do I tell her?

Well my personal experience I just told my mom. I was nervous but when I told her she said fine [just no virgin sacrifices in the back yard] even though my mom is very open minded, I grew up going to church every Sunday so I was convinced she would say no. Some years later I asked my mom why she said sure without asking any real questions. She said she thought it was a phase and she shouldn't over react, but after x amount of years she saw it was right for me.

Take a deep breath and stay calm for one thing. Yelling and stomping your feet won't win any points. Compile a couple facts about witchcraft and why you feel its right for you. Ask your mother to hear you out and wait until you're finished before responding. Many people hear 'pagan' or 'witchcraft' and think 'virgin sacrifices' [like my moms joke] so try and explain your views and what is real and fiction. If she says no, ask if you could make a compromise. My mom agreed but holidays like Christmas and Easter were family ones [so while my coven exchanged gifts on the solstice, I had to wait] its better than nothing, and if this path is meant to be, [if under the legal age of consent] a few years off the path won't matter.

I told my dad when we were on holiday, actually on the site one of my patrons is saId to be buried. So, because of that I felt a push from somewhere (I assume and did assume that it was Gwydion) to tell my dad. My mother wasn't with us and there are reasons but I won't delve into them.

Like, Neko said you need to keep calm, patient and polite. You'd be surprised how far it will get you in this instance and throughout life.
Good luck!

I would suggest telling her first what witchcraft is NOT. because those who aren't connected to it in some way tend to make assumptions. Tell her the reasons why you want to be involved in witchcraft. If she seems reluctant toapprive make sure you let her know its nit because your friends do it and you "just wana fit in." Tell her its more earth based and its about using abilities that we have naturally. I promise it won't be too bad.

My mom found out about me by breaking into y sisters Facebook and looking at my Facebook (I had her blocked, it was a difficult period of my life). But what she saw was in her mind worse than witchcraft. What she saw was "satanist." Being a self proclaimed Christian, I think she had a small aneurism. She also thought I chose that because of my friends or the music I listened too. She didn't really give me a chance to explain. So hearing it from you will definitely make her more willing to listen. If you don't think she will, you can write it down in a letter just in case. Just remember to not start yelling if anything goes bad.

When I told my mother, her being very open minded, and once a pagan herself, she was very supportive and accepting, she buys me incense and books and whatever else I might need, so I would really just sit down and have a small talk with her about shifting beliefs, trying things, and slowly move into the "I'm a witch" thing.

Foxfur,do you mean witchcraft or Wicca? They are not the same thing!
Often it is the word "witchcraft" that makes some people throw up their hands in horror!
But you are 18 years old; why tell her at all? Tell her that you believe in the "magic" of nature.Just don't use the word "witchcraft"; it gives some people the wrong idea!

As simple and as directly as possible, no different than removing the band-aid. Also be ready to answer a shit load of questions and to possible defend your beliefs, but if you answer carefully enough and your arguments are well thought through you should be ok, also your mother may be a bit moody at first but it will pass.

So good luck.
