Dangers are in everything we do it is just a matter of how much and what is being endangered and yes things can come back at you it's called karma sometimes though there's counterparts which end up paying the equivalent of your yin so they become the yang in the matter, Oil derricks themselves have negative effects on mother nature which is why they cause earthquakes when they are used.

Of course there are some dangers in the world. But the question was about dangerous nature. And, oil derricks causing earthquakes?
Nonsense! If you study a bit more you will understand what causes earthquakes, and it is not oil drilling, deep mining, fracking, or anything else done by humans. A nuclear explosion may cause an "earth tremor", but it would never cause an earthquake.
Magick is best approached for bettering ones self and others around you, not attempting flashy stage tricks like David Copperfield. If you desire to learn stage magic to be cool, then the craft is not for you.
Understand that magick is not just you. This is not the movies. Everything is interconnected, and you cannot practice magick without effecting things around you in some way, directly or indirectly. If you abuse it and use it without respect, you can not only harm yourself but others around you.
Let me give an example. We use electricity everyday for our appliances and as a source of light. It is used safely by millions of people. But we know better than to mix those appliances with water or poke light sockets with metal paper clips. Doing so can not only electrocute and potentially kill us, but also cause a fire that can hurt others. It is not a toy and using it that way is what makes it dangerous. This is the same with anything, magick included.
Google "Sacred Texts" and the Internet Archive of Sacred Texts website should pop up with a sub index of "Online Book of Shadows". It's full of good articles on most of the basic information without a need to download anything or pay. It also includes more advanced books like The Philosophy of Natural Magic by Agrippa in its Western Esoteric Texts section. A wonderful author and classic read.
