Here are some books that I'd recommend:

"Witchcraft Today" and "The Meaning of Witchcraft" by Gerald Gardner

"Wicca: A Year and a Day" by Timothy Roderick

"Wicca for Beginners" by Thea Sabin

"Wicca: The Old Religion In the New Millennium" by Vivianne Crowley

"Phoenix From the Flame: Living as a Pagan in the 21st Century" by Vivianne Crowley

"A Witch Alone" by Marian Green

"The Heart of Wicca" by Ellen Cannon Reed

"The Witch's Bible" by Janet and Stewart Farrar

"The Witch's God" and "The Witch's Goddess" by Janet and Stewart Farrar

"Gerald Gardner and the Cauldron of Inspiration" and "Witchfather: a Life of Gerald Gardner" by Philip Heselton

"Lid Off the Cauldron: A Wicca Handbook" by Patricia Crowther

And here's a list of some authors that I do not recommend as the information in their books is, in my opinion, incorrect and misleading:

Silver Ravenwolf

Edain McCoy

D.J. Conway

Raven Grimassi

Gerina Dunwich

Fiona Horne

Konstantinos

Lark's list is very helpful. The books she does not recommend seem to plague the shelves of new-age sections in book shops, and I am sad to say I own a Silver Ravenwolf book, I refuse to get rid of it simply because it cost me a lot.

Out of the list lark gave you I have read all but two. One of my first books on wicca (when I was exploring that path) was the one by Thea Sabin, I can honestly say it was a concise, yet informative introduction to wicca written in a style which was easy to understand and comprehend. If you are just beginning to research your path I would start by purchasing this one. Of course this is just my opinion.
