Barbi, the board itself is a tool, same as any other tool. The reason they have bad press is that they're a popular choice for hysterical pubescent people who attract menacing spirits with no clue how to banish them or how to protect themselves. Something scary happens and they feed it with said hysteria and blame it on the tool. I do not believe a spirit is connected to a piece of board any more than it's connected to a butter knife, unless such a connection is thusly created. Use some logic.

Had to lol about the butterknife. And thats exactly what i told my husband when we were watching it but at the same time the writers seemed to have some knowledge compared to other ouja films, so i thought i'd ask. Thank you. I appreciate the replies.

That would probably be the best thing to do. I tell you to be careful with Ouiji boards, they aren't something to play around with. Keep banishing tools (salt, holy water, wand/athame) by the board incase this does happen and always be careful.
If one does come through, banish it, rip and burn the board, and purify the room

i have been told there is a process by which you destroy the board in fire, but i don't know it, and typically those who chuck a Ouija Board in a fire release a lot of bad things. [say this malevolent spirit was attached to the board, you just set them free and they will probably target you] this is why Ouija Boards need to be stored in a safe place, any damage to the board can bring trouble. [my board is cleaned often and is stored in a box in my closet ontop of everything so nothing can be stacked above and damage it]

if you do speak to something that's not friendly and you want it out fast, take some sage smudge and salt water [or vinegar it destroyed all energy good and bad] wash the board and planchette with the salt water to purify it and/or pass it through the sage smoke to be safe. then, sage the whole room/house, sprinkle sea salt on your windowsills and doorways, and cast a protection spell. be sure to have a purifying bath and protect yourself as well.

if you do have a board, be sure you cleanse it on a regular basis depending on use, and if you contacted something you don't feel comfortable with.

Smudge might be a good idea yes. And I was not saying it was not a tool, simply that, like all tools in use with high emotions or energy transfer, a Spirit Board can develop its own patterns. But yes, that could go for almost any tool used as I said. I have not heard, personally, of a method of fire-purifying a board or any other tool, but that does not mean they do not exist. I am curious, as I am sure the OPer is, to hear what else others have to say on the subject. More feedback might help formulate a solution to this.

Thank you all very much for your replies. I just got a pendulum, contacted a spirit guide and trained it for yes and no. It was awsome. I dont see any danger in it.

Movies, are simply movies. Burning it will definately not pureify you from, yourself previously using it. There is a numerous of things it can do to a spirit, e.g like make it angry or upset at you.

Dangers exist when we do not understand something well, and do not take simple precautions.

Right. But is that realy a rule? You have to say goodbye and the spirit also has to say goodby? Can you ask to only speak with good spirits? Not sure about that terminology. Say your in a hall full of people and ask to only speak to the good ones. I do it though when contacting a spirit guide. But i feel like the new kid in town talking in front of a room filled with people i dont know. I sound nervous i think.
