Be very careful when asking the help of the gods. When they give you what you ask, it is never at the time you expect, and it is never in the way you expect. People constantly want what they do not have, yet also want what they do not understand. There are reasons for everything. Your life is the way it is presently because you are at a certain point in your life that makes it that way. To change it will mean two things, to change "you" or to change that which is around you. Prepare for your world to turn upside down and not in the way you desire. Gods don't give you what you want, they give you what they want to in retrospect to what you want and the way your life is shaped.
Look at it this way, you want an obtuse triangle but your life currently only has room for a square. You ask the spirits for this triangle. How do you expect to get the triangle without severe change? Many people begin to see the change and fight it, so the spirits say "oh well, they didn't really want it". Some say, "oh yeah? well now you're going to get it whether you like it or not!" The gods are not all hugs and cuddles. This is not the Christian god that people pray to for every little tiny thing demeaning the entire purpose of prayer. These are gods that were sacrificed blood, sweat, and tears for. These are gods that people would die for. A gift requires a gift. Better not to ask than to ask too much. Read the Havamal before playing with the Norse gods. Those are their values. That's how they think.
