Animals...

Hi all please excuse me if I put this question in the wrong place but here goes, I just recently lost my cat, Ive had for a really long time since I was young, he was very old and stuff, and just a couple days ago he disappears from my house, which i thought was weird because he was an indoor cat. I later found out that cats run away from home to go die peacefully and this is just about the saddest thing ive ever heard, im still kinda depressed about it, but my question is can animals become like spirits too? like a human being can become a ghost if it dies with unfinished business, I want to know if my cat left peacefully knowing that we gave him a good home and saved him from the shelter I wish I could thank him for being there in good and bad times, I loved my cat and I miss him dearly

Animals have spirits, yes. But they are not as strong or as "sentient" as the human soul. I know that much.

People become spirits.

Animals become elementals.

You are right cats do tend to go somewhere out of the way to die and it is no refection on the owner like many things cats do it comes down to being 'a cat thing'. As for letting him know how much you loved him and thanking him you did that every day from the moment he came home from the shelter.

As for animal spirits there are many accounts of "ghost" animals both friendly and molevalant.

The fact he reached an old age and is missed so much shows you cared for him and gave him a good home and he would have known that.
