Deja Vu?
By:

Hello,

A large percent of events that occur in my life have felt like deja vu. Like I've done it before, literally like I've done my whole life before. Does anyone know if this means anything etc?

- Francis.

I'm not really sure myself, but I know the feeling because I have it quite a lot myself. I don't know if it really means anything though.

Usually my feeling will come to me, and then I'll remember a dream I had about the event. You could be experiencing the same thing? I'm just taking a guess though.

Some people believe deja vu is untapped psychic potential or intuition as if some part of you foresaw the event and your concious mind didn't register it. I've rarely had deja vu myself and it's usually pointless thoughts such as thinking I've seen a movie that's just come out so it's impossible I've seen it so if this premonition theory is correct it isn't very useful unless you improve on it somehow in my case at least.

Thank for you for the replies.

But for me, I don't have dreams or as such about them, it's more like a memory or just recognizing it. Basically just the feeling I've done or seen this before except occasionally it's a blurred memory or feeling.

The premonition theory is interesting, I do wonder if it's true. If so, does anyone know any ways of controlling or advancing this ability?

Neuronal discharges can occur in the medial temporal lobe in people with epilepsy just before a seizure, giving the same experience as unaffected people with deja vu. This is a similar activity to the hypnogogic "knee jerk" that peope can experience while falling asleep. Perhaps the phenomenon, which only 20% of the population don't report, has physical origin. Just a different angle. :)
