Wedding Superstitions

I know in Western superstitions, a bride should avoid wearing certain colors...

Married in White, you have chosen right
Married in Grey, you will go far away,
Married in Black, you will wish yourself back,
Married in Red, you will wish yourself dead,
Married in Green, ashamed to be seen,
Married in Blue, you will always be true,
Married in Pearl, you will live in a whirl,
Married in Yellow, ashamed of your fellow,
Married in Brown, you will live in the town,
Married in Pink, you spirit will sink.

But what about colors for the wedding theme? Could I just wear white or blue and incorporate other colors in the theme for Feng Shui purposes with out those colors being bad to have?

Other countries that have more successful marriages use different colors than we do in the Western Hemisphere.

These marriages are likely more successful because in some other countries getting a divorce is either a big deal or impossible. The best marriages are probably in less democratic societies. There are common sense reasons for not wearing colors other than white for you'd wedding dress including looking like your at a funeral (white is the funeral color in China actually), looking like Satan's secretary (joke I remember hearing once about a red wedding dress), and just looking ugly (brown for example isn't a flattering color.). If I was a woman, which I'm proud not to be, and I decided to take a walk on the wild side blue would probably be the best alternative except maybe pearl which is close to white in shade. In the end these things are called superstitions for a reason so pick whatever colors you want for your theme and dress (though most brides go for beauty, not Feng Shui, wanting colors to compliment each other).

The colours does'nt mean the same everywhere.Somewhere one colour could bring good luck, whereas somewhere one colour could bring bad luck,as the prevailing beliefs go.For example red, you related it to death, but in India,it is the colour of dress Indian brides wear and is considered auspicious.
Hence, you may look into what beliefs prevail in your area, but i don't see that much important.

It's your wedding, do what feels right to you based on your beliefs, and makes you happy and I think you'll be OK. The success of a marriage has much more to do with the people involved than the color of the decorations.
