No, you don't have do use a stone on your wand, however most people do so that the energy can be ampified, the most popular being quartz or citrine. Also, most people tend to say that telekinesis is not possible, or at the very least very impractiable. I would suggest staying away from kinesis for the time being (I plan to study it in the future, in a non fluffy way.) Correct me if I'm wrong but if telekinesis were possible, would you even be able to achieve it through a wand?

The wand most people seem to utilize is simply a carved or naturally formed piece of wood from a nearby tree. You might pick a tree, if you have the option, with specific magickal qualities but a wand is used to channel ones energy, so any elongated object could theoretically work as a wand. People tend to decorate and adorn their wands with objects, symbols, etc... out of their preference and it isn't required but as said above the use of a stone/crystal such as quartz could be helpful in channeling your energy. Also if you know of a particular type of magick you might practice most often you could adorn the wand with a stone that corresponds with this type of magick (such as rose quartz for love related magick). If teleknisis were possible it is defined as the movement of objects by the power of ones mind or purely mental in practice so a wand wouldn't help you in this, though it is generally believed impossible.
