Thanks! Okay one question if I may. When do I know that I'm in a meditative state?

When you are in a meditative state, you will feel calm, balanced, alert. Your mind will be more focused and you will feel more awake.

The *Pillar of Light* is a very simplified form of exercise from the Tree of Life. Begin with the Cross of Light, allowing the Pillar of Light to move down the center of your body at its own pace. Do not try to push or force it See it form a luminous sphere at the throat chakra. Allow it to continue flowing to another sphere at the solar plexus, at the generative organs and at the feet. If you wish, you may envision the spheres vibrating with the colors most appropriate to them. See pure white overhead and a soft grey at the throat. The solar plexus will be a clear yellow or gentle gold. Purple is the color for the sphere at the generative organs, and at your feet will be a mixture of black, olive, russet and citrine. Complete the Cross of Light with the crossbar of light at the solar plexus.

Imagine the column or Pillar of energy centering and balancing your body, expanding slightly to become just larger than your immediate body. It will be approximately size of the size of your near-body column and filling the base around your feet. It continues to rise, picking up any particles silently it finds which you have permitted to remain with you. Do not push the flow; allow it to take its own pace. It will remain longer in areas where health needs require it or excessive negativity is found. You may see it as an even, smooth flow or as an evanescent conduit of light.

Follow your visualization with concentrated awareness of the feelings and responses of your physical, mental, emotional bodies. Be perceptive of the beginning status and the changes that occur. Tune into your body's ability to use this light flow for healing and restoration of its inner body needs. As the Pillar of Light fills to just above your head, let the inner eye clearly see the flotsam (floating wreckage of a ship or its cargo; broadly : floating debris) of negativity and spiritual debris transform into scintillating (brilliantly lively), sparks of light which will whirl away all the cosmic winds, no longer an implement of harm or detriment to yourself or others.

After spending the desired time with this Pillar of Light, allow the light flow to subside. Once it has pooled at your feet, permit it to return upward in the Pillar to the sphere overhead. Slowly return the center column of light with which you began. You should feel many positive effects- calm, centered, balanced, cleansed....

The *Oxygen Pickup* is another instant technique that does double duty. In this instance, its dual nature permits you to either recognize or calm yourself. Taking slow, deep breaths wherever you are can be helpful. However, it is much more effective if you are able to step out of any enclosed environment, such as an office or building, to be actually outdoors, if only for a moment. Even with pollutants in the air, you will be breathing fresh air, not that which has been reprocessed constantly over long periods of time.

Stand quietly, holding your body tall and erect, and take several slow, deep, even breaths. Feel your lungs fill to capacity. Savor the feeling of these portions of your lungs which seldom expand their limit or receive that much air. Hold each breath for a moment; feel and visualize the minute particles of pollutants, stale air, negative vibrations or chemicals being pulled from their resting places and forced into the volume of air. Slowly, evenly, release the the breath and repeat several times. Each times. Each time you breathe in, feel the light in the air around you filling your lungs, bringing more positive energy, healthful and natural forces in place of the of the negative or harmful ones which had been there. After a few moments, you are ready to go back to whatever you have to do. The difference is that you go back feeling energized and cleansed as well as calm and in centered control of yourself and your body.
