My suggestion to you is to start by studying the various "basics" posts on this site. You can do this by using the search bar to the upper right of the website. Keep in mind, different paths can have different "basics", so in this way its a chance for you to find out what is important to you. I for one don't put much importance to moon phases, yet to someone else they could be vital. I would also suggest after/while you are practicing and learning the "basics" that you study different paths, communicate with people on public chat. Ask questions, keep and open mind, and once you are ready you will know what your path is.

Begin your own book of shadows. It is no different to learning an academic curriculum which is complimented by mastering practical aspects. Select and begin working with a divination tool early. As well as books on basic witchcraft, don't forget to cover mythology. This is perhaps why the tarot is such a great learning tool - it actually does teach you much mythology. It also teaches you about life, which is an important aspect of the path the wisdom. As for the moon phases - if you study witchcraft for any length of time you will find that awareness of the lunar cycle is a fairly central theme in developing a connection to the rhythms of nature and the Goddess energy.

As a starting point the traditional study is for a year and a day.

I wish you much success on your journey

Brightest blessings
