Heathen Survey

I'm not a "heathen" and I've never worked with the Norse pantheon itself, although I know tons about it ;)

But I would like to see more threads on the magick of the Norse, a.k.a. seidr, galdr, etc. which I do incorporate in my own practice because I feel they go beyond the culture itself. Odin was definitely on to something, and I enjoy the work.

I am an Asatruar. I have worked with different Gods and Goddesses, but stick usually with Tyr and Frigg.

I don't put a name on myself because I follow my intuition on practices, but I am strictly a Freya devotee and follower.

I would say i'm eclectic due to i'm just starting out to see if this path is for me.

But i'm leaning on to the more Vanir side for gods and more lighter aspects

I cannot understand why a Heathen is thought of only as Norse beliefs!
Originally, a Heathen was one who "lived on the Heath" ie "outside of the village or settlement". A shepherd would be such, as they "tended their flock" on the Heath, and lived with the flock. Some witches lived "on the Heath".
Most modern thinkers would class Heathens as anyone not believing in the main-stream religions, not necessarily Norse.
In that sense Wicca is Heathen. As is Taoism and Shinto! And many others.

Heathenry is the name of Norse paganism. Therefore, those who are Norse pagans refer to themselves as Heathens.

heathenry is an extremely common word among heathens, and the word many of us use for ourselves

anyways, i guess i would belong to Asatru, although i usually just identify as heathen. im more or less a purist, and mostly honor Odin. though ive worked with Tyr and Loki in the past

I've never chimed in here.... I'm a Loki devote ,Angrboda , their children. Hela is special to me.... The All-father of course with high respect too... I've worked with Freya. I offer for Fenrir,although I'm not quit ready to "visit" with him yet.

I am a Tribalistic Asatruar, devoted to the Aesir. The deities I strive to honor are Thor the Protector, Odin the Allfather, Heimdallr the Guard, and Baldr the Loved.
