I have been interested in premonitions for a while now. Sometimes it feels like I have them during meditation and rarely in dreams. I would say look up stuff about dreams becoming a reality or about dream meanings.

I don't experience them personally, but I have had some when I was younger. When you wake up, try writing down everything you dreamt about, everything you can remember. This is a good thing to practice.
I agree with Hollabaluru about writing things down after waking up. Meditation on your premonitions could help you remember them, also meditation can help you control it so you only have premonitions when you want to. Another way is to ask your spirit guide, spirit totem, and/or deity(deities) to help you remember and control them.
Usually, I'll remember as something is happening that I had dreamed it before. The problem is knowing before it happens that it was a premonition instead of just a regular dream. Try a dream journal for a while and see what comes of it.
Most times, these are small things like a conversation (deja vu) or running into someone you haven't seen in a while. My biggest one was dreaming my wedding a week before I met my husband. It didn't seem like a big deal when I woke up, but when I was introduced to him later, I was completely floored!
