A wand is a tool that helps to amplify and direct the energy one needs to cast a spell. It becomes an extension of your hand. If you take away the tool one can still use their hand in the same manor.

There is no evidence in my practice that spells are not safe unless one uses a wand. I have found that a spell can be just as safe possibly even safer without the use of a wand. I too rarely use a wand while casting unless you count the wooden spoons I use to stir with.
