Start studying the basics, google ( add terms like magick, occult, witchcraft etc if hard to find)
The basics are as follows:

Visualization
Meditation
Circle casting
Grounding
Shielding
Chakras
Energy manipulation
Moon phases
Meanings of days, hours and colors
Tools and herbs

Also look into the symbolism of yourself, your zodiac, your totem animals, element etc.
Consult your spirit guide regularly, they will give you the best advice.

Okay. WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY MAGIC?

Do you mean Witchcraft?

If your just doing it for the SPELLS then that is NOT TRUE witchcraft to me.

The most important things about witchcraft is to know yourself, to work and know mother nature, and to work with the divine. It's not about the SPELLS, it will never be! Get your mind out of that. Sure, a spell once in a while won't hurt.

I will have to agree with "doe". I am also knew to this. I started exactly as listen, also researching, reading, and studying. There is much more to magick other than spell casting. So take the time to learn. I have yet to find my path, though I normally do seem to lean toward wicca. Enjoy. :)

scotlandhero is new apparently, so i'm guessing they don't know the difference, but probably casting spells and making potions. as hero continues on they'll figure out it's more than that.

magic can be done by anyone, as long as you can charge and focus. Witchcraft on the other hand is far more difficult yet far more rewarding. if you've converted to a pagan path, and you're wanting to learn practice, and you think magic is what's needed, you'll learn it's not just magic. Witchcraft is far more rewarding a path than simply casting spells. granted, there's nothing wrong with just wanting to cast spells. if you wish to do more, then meditation, chakra work, learning about herbs, symbols, runes, gemstones, working with nature, celebrating the seasons, and many other things are needed. witches are always studying and learning, one is never done, and one never masters this path, they just get better. there's articles, forums, and books to help you on your path scotlandhero, good luck, blessed be ^_^
