Knowledge or Wisdom?

Which do you think is more important,if you want to explain your opinion you can :)

I think knowledge is more important because, you can't have wisdom without knowledge as Knowledge is the basis of wisdom.

"Knowledge is a process of piling up facts;wisdom lies in their simplification"

I would say that wisdom is more important. It is what you see when you look at the world and wonder of things that are much different than those around you. It is when you look at others with jadded eyes and give them the knowing smile that they can not comprehend. Wisdom is the maturity of the mind and soul whilst knowledge is what is contained within it.While both are very important it is wisdom that keeps you from repeatig yourself and from stumbling blindly through the depths of redudancy and the mundane. It is what we use when we smile at our children and grandchildren and tell them of the things that they should be weary of.

I also agree that wisdom is more important. Anyone can build up a lot of knowledge only about 50% of it is actually useful or benificial in some way. Librarys have a lot of knowledge and it does nothing for them but serve a greater purpose. Anyone can tell me this and that but who has the wisdom to put it to a good use. Who has the wisdom and the drive to take their knowledge to new hights and new levels. I can know how to preform surgury on a person go through the steps and what not. But it takes wisdom to take that knowledge from the class room to the operating room. To have a steady hand and to not cut things your not supposed too. Also knowledge of surgury doesn't tell me how to talk to a mother of a child going under the knife and tell her it's going to be ok and to be there for her.

Wisdom. Wisdom is knowledge applied to life it is far better than knowledge that came from a source and was never applied.

Wisdom I believe is better, or at least I prefer it.

Knowledge is simply being in possession of information.

Wisdom is the understanding and ability to use it.

Your knowledge is worthless in the long run (typically) without some form of wisdom to back it.

Gavreel makes an excellent original point, however. "you can't have wisdom without knowledge..."
On the other hand you can look at it this way: The moment you are born you begin to gain knowledge, even if you are not taught. Yes, knowledge comes first but without wisdom that knowledge useless.

Again, knowledge is what you know. We all know something.
Wisdom is the ability to use what you DO know. Not all of us have an abundance of that.

You can't have one without the other. Without knowledge there would be no wisdom and without wisdom one would not be wise enough to gain knowledge.

That being said I believe you need 70% wisdom and 30% knowledge, as wisdom of how to use the knowledge will lead to further knowledge and knowledge cn only be used for good with wisdom.

For example a toddler is not wise give him a match and he shall set the house on fire, give the match to his mother and she will see her knowledge to light the cooker and make a meal. (not being sexist just that my mother does the cooking lol)
